But tennis is more than just a game. It carried an air of elitism until commercial pressures opened the floodgates, both professional and amateurly, altering the sport's image forever. The very name tennis has a rich history, originating from the French word denise a call to the opponent to serve, and the term racket has its roots in Arabic rakat, meaning poem of the hand. Fast forward to eighteen seventy seven, the birth of the iconic Wimbledon Championship from croquet lawns to the world's premiere tennis ternment Wimble didn't set the stage for the modern tennis, introducing standard rules and embracing amateurs and professionals. The Davis Cup was conceived in eighteen ninety nine, becoming a global phenomenon testing nation's tennis prowess. Carpet courts, a versatile and removable, have found on each indoors as well. Imagine today playing with a share hands on a tennis court might be very hard, or playing with just a wooden racket or piece of wood. Now we have graphite and strings.
